Massage Therapy

I offer several types of massage therapy, relaxation therapy, deep tissue massage, and sports massage therapy. Here is a breakdown of each to help you decide which treatment best meets your needs:

Relaxation Massage

  • Goal: To improve your well-being, helping you feel lighter and deeply relaxed.
  • Technique: Lighter work, gentle pressure, and long smooth strokes to encourage blood flow.
  • Best For: Those struggling with sleep or anxiety. A profoundly calming and restful treatment.

Deep Tissue Massage

  • Goal: A firmer, targeted approach for chronic muscle tension, pain, or stiffness (neck, shoulders, back, legs).
  • Best For: Clients with high-pressure jobs, frequent drivers, or those working at a computer all day.
  • Technique: Deep muscle penetration. Goals include reducing chronic pain, increasing range of motion, and improving posture.
  • A Note on Pressure: Communication is vital. Discomfort must be manageable, and while some temporary soreness is expected, the long-term benefits are substantial.

Sports Massage Therapy

  • Goal: Ideal for active people. Aims to prevent injury by addressing tightness and muscle imbalances. Great for injury recovery, speeding up and strengthening your return to activity.
  • Technique: A variety of methods including trigger point therapy, deep tissue work, and myofascial release.
  • Stretching: Active and passive stretching is a core component to improve flexibility and range of motion.
  • Approach: Very much tailored to your specific needs and lifestyle.

Effective Injury Recovery

Over the years, I have guided numerous clients through successful, rapid recovery from various injuries. While every condition is unique and treated on a case-by-case basis, my structured approach typically involves the following key steps:

  • Initial Consultation: A thorough discussion covering the injury’s nature, history, and any prior treatments or consultations.
  • Range of Motion Assessment: Detailed testing to establish baseline muscle function.
  • Functional Movement Screening: A light initial session to safely evaluate muscle function around the injury site.
  • Continuous Progress Monitoring: Regular reassessments throughout rehabilitation to measure returning strength and range of motion.
  • Personalized Home Exercise Programs: Provision of tailored exercises to accelerate the recovery process.
  • Integrated Wellness Recommendations: Guidance on supplementary treatments or nutrition to facilitate faster healing.

For the best results in the shortest time, I strongly recommend combining rehabilitation training with regular sports massage therapy. Please see my price list for combined sessions. For massage Therapy Dronfield think Bison Personal Fitness.

Ian is an amazing sports massage therapist. I have seen Ian for a recurrent issue with muscular neck and shoulder pain and he always manages to unknot and sort my shoulders. There is no one better.
